- Will stainless steel pulls rust?
- Stainless steel is rust-resistant, not rust-proof the chromium forms a passive surface film that resists corrosion. Rust can still appear if chlorides, bleach, salt deposits or stagnant moisture sit on the surface, or if the finish is scratched.
- Can I use these pulls in a bathroom or coastal home?
- Use 304 as the minimum for kitchen and bathroom.For coastal location,poll areas or home exposed to salt air,specify 316 (or a quality PVD coated finish).Wiping the pulls dry from time to time helps any grade last longer.
- Brushed or polished which shows fewer fingerprints?
- A brushed or satin finish hides daily smudges,fingerprints,water spots and minor scratches far better than a mirror polish.If you want low mainterance hardware,look for brushed or satin rather than high polish.
- How do I clean brushed stainless steel pulls without scratching them?
- Wipe with a microfiber cloth using warm water and a drop of mild dish soap,always in the direction of the grain,dry immediately to avoid water spots.For water spots use 1:1 white vinegar and water for light rust,a baking soda paste.Never use steel wool,scouring pads,abrasive paste,bleach or ammonia,and never scrub across the grain.
